55,000 visas are annually allotted in a random drawing to individuals from nations under represented in the total immigrant pool. The application form is free, however if selected, the applicant and his/her family members must then either apply for Adjustment of Status or Consular process. The fees for these services are below:

Legal fee for principal plus $600 per additional family member.
If alien is in the U.S. and will be processing from the U.S.
Government filing fee for Form I-485
Government filing fee for Form I-765 (if in the U.S. and wants employment authorization - optional).
Government filing fee for Travel Document (if in the U.S. and is eligible to travel internationally).
If consular processing, the following fees apply
Visa processing fees for Department of State application forms.
Affidavit of support fee.
